Everything You Should Know About the Bone Cancer Survival Rate

Bone Cancer Survival Rate

When we hear about someone suffering from cancer, any type of cancer, we always pray for the recovery of that patient, but recovering from a cancer is not an easy task. The patients who survive the cancer are very brave and lucky because they got a second chance to live their life. Talking about the survival rate, we first have to understand what is meant by the term. Survival rate means the percentage of the patients who are still alive after a specified period of time is over. These calculations are just for keeping track of the medical breakthrough and to understand the effects of a certain treatments on the cancer patients. This does not predict the chances of survival of any particular patient as it will totally depend on the patient whether he or she survives the cancer or not.

If we talk about the bone cancer survival rate, then we have to look for the patients who survived for a prescribed period for e.g. say 5 years after they were diagnosed with the bone cancer. The survival rate is different at every stage of the bone cancer. As we all know that there are four stages of every cancer and if your cancer was detected at the first stage then the chances are very bright that you will be cured but if the cancer was detected at the very last stage then the chances are very low.

The survival rate of any cancer is dependent on various factors and if we are talking about the bone cancer survival rate then it is dependent on the following factors. It will depend on the nature of the cancer that is whether it is curable or not, it will also depend on the stage of the cancer.  The bone cancer survival rate is very high if the diagnosis is done at very early stage where the cancer is still limited to one part of the body of the patient, but if it was diagnosed at a stage where the cancer has reached to almost all the important organs or at least affecting them badly then in that case the rate will be very low. The survival rate at the primary stage of bone cancer is up to 84.5% and for the patients who were diagnosed at second or third that is the stage where the cancer has spread in the area around the affected organ but not yet reached to the lymph nodes, the chances of surviving are 69.4 %. For those whose cancer was detected at the very last stage, the rate of surviving is only 30.6 %.  Though these are the statistics, you can always conquer any disease including cancer if you have a strong will power and are brave enough to fight for it. Every patient is different and therefore his or her chances of survival depend on them.
